Off Ice Strengthening Classes For Figure Skaters
Off – ice training is as important as on ice. Skaters that want to perform at their best condition at the competitions and test sessions will need to participate in off-ice classes.
We offer low intensity and high intensity training for skaters from beginner through advanced competitors. Focusing on dynamic movements, polymetrics, agility and cardio training as well as specific technical elements of figure skating (spins, jumps, lifts, etc.). Figure skating requires strength in every part of the skater’s body. Off-ice group classes are formatted as a warm-up or post skating workout (not to interfere with on ice training).

Off-Ice Warm-up (preventing injury and improving performance)
A proper warmup before skating will help you get the most out of your ice time and also help prevent injury. Skating a program or practicing intermediate or advanced moves without properly warming up can lead to injuries.

Off-Ice Jumping and Spins
This is a common practice for skaters on an everyday basis. Skaters must work with their coach first before performing it on their own to avoid bad habits and injuries.

Strength Building

  • Strong legs for jumping and landing
  • strong arms for balance and control
  • and most of all a strong body core.

Core Stabilization

A strong core body is essential to athletes in all sports. Strength, power, speed, quickness, agility,  coordination and balance all come from the core of the body. Strength begins in the core of the body and extends outward through the arms and legs, connecting all movements from the upper and lower body. The stronger the core of the body the more powerful and explosive the movements can be.

Advanced Balance Technics
Figure skating requires excellent balance. We Also Recommend Ballet as a part of harmonious all together training.

Flexibility
Figure skating includes movements that require the skater to extended  their flexibility level.

Pattern Dances

Pattern Dances are a part of ice dancing (Ice dancing is a discipline of figure skating that draws from ballroom dancing) in which all the couples or solo dancers perform the same standardized and precise steps, holds to music of a specified rhythm  and genre,  shows good edging, position and power.  Skaters can take Pattern Dance tests with a partner – “Standard Dance Tests”, or without a partner – “Solo Dance Tests”. The compulsory tests follow a specific pattern on the ice similar to the moves tests. Pattern dances are popular as a form of recreational or social dance among the skaters.
